!Hola!
I am pleased to be your child’s Spanish teacher this year. My hope is that all students leave my classroom with a better understanding of the Spanish language as well as Hispanic culture.
Three years ago my family and I moved to Texas, from Alabama, and we are enjoying the decision. I have been working in education for 9 years and have a Masters in Education, specializing in Spanish and ESL, from The University of South Alabama. My B.S. in Spanish/Psychology was earned from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. I lived and attended university in Chile as well. Additionally, I have traveled to various countries with the aim of learning the culture of and communicating with others. Living in different countries and learning languages has given me a better understanding of the process of teaching a world language. I take advantage of my personal experience in order to implement my teaching methods.
I understand that every child has different strengths and weaknesses in their learning process and know that with these differences EVERY student can learn and grow. Therefore, I am committed to using differentiated instruction in my class with a variety of opportunities for my students’ to achieve their goals. Our class will be an immersion environment, where the goal is to use Spanish as often as possible; this is because learning a language involves oral, auditory and written repetition, constant work, and memorization skills. That said, we will need to work as a team to ensure your child reaches their class goals. I am here for you and look forward to a wonderful year!
