Welcome to Byrd Middle School, city of champions! As I enter my 20^th year as an English and Language Arts educator, the is my 8^th year at Byrd Middle. I'm ecstatic about the the continued opportunity to do what I love.........teach. My objective as the 7th and 8th grade Resource English and Language Arts instructor, is to advocate for my students while creating a safe and comfortable learning environment where all students feel welcome and safe; equipping them with the skills needed to become successful. My collegiate years were invested at the University of Minnesota, where my accreditation was fulfilled with a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Social Service and Science. I’m the mother of a 21-year-old daughter, De’ja, who also attended Byrd, graduated from Duncanville High and is now attending school to be a dental hygienist. During my leisure time, I enjoy traveling, cooking and spending heartfelt time with my fiancee and family. The English and Language Arts department is looking forward to a very successful year!  The theme for my classroom this year is: "If It Doesn't Challenge You, It Won't Change You". We encourage you to become an active participant in your child’s educational growth.  I have extremely high expectations for my students. Parental involvement is also an requirement, in which, it will contribute to my student’s future academic excellence.
